Info for the Hampton Commons Neighborhood in Fairfax, Virginia

We were excited to have a visit from Uncle Fred’s BBQ food truck on Monday, 7/26!
We’ll keep you posted about future food truck visits to Hampton Commons.

Join your neighbors for our annual Hampton Commons neighborhood spring cleanup on Saturday, April 24th from 9 – 11 am. Meet by the community sign, where we’ll provide trash bags and gloves. Happy Earth Day and thank you for keeping our community beautiful!

You take the time to sort your recycling from your trash – but is it actually getting recycled? Make sure you’re not making these mistakes that could land our recycling in the landfill. For lots more information, check out this resource from Fairfax County.
-Don’t put recycling in plastic bags. The machines at the recycling center can’t process them. Put them in bins, cardboard boxes or paper bags instead. Plastic grocery bags are also not recyclable.
-Do separate out your glass and drop it off separately. Glass actually causes problems at recycling center, so Fairfax no longer accepts it with curbside recycling. Instead, separate it and drop it off yourself in the big purple bin at Providence Community Center (3001 Vaden Drive, Fairfax.) The County will grind it up and use it in construction projects. More details and additional glass recycling locations: https://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/news2/glass-containers-no-longer-required-in-curbside-recycling-program/
-Do only put out recycling on Fridays. Our community collects trash on Tuesdays and Fridays, but recycling on Fridays only.
-Do only use the designated collection areas in our community. These designated spots are by the fire hydrant, at the ends of Vosger and Omar, mid-island on Covington, and the cul-de-sac.
